Our History

It all started in a garage, more than 35 years ago.

Ernie Dunn saw a need for a knowledgeable, honest and reliable crane repair service company. It was the 1980s, and though the economy was slow, he was determined to provide this option for customers.

Being the son of a master electrician who owned his own residential and commercial electric business in South Carolina, Ernie learned electrical and mechanical skills early on in life — skills he has taken to Crane Repair Company.

With a garage, one service truck and one trailer, Ernie began his business of overhead electric crane repair and inspection. Since then, we’ve expanded to manufacturing and providing repair parts.

Our humble roots are close to us, and we’re still committed to providing the same personable, dedicated services to our customers today.

Crane Repair Company was founded in April 1982 by the Dunn family. Two years later, we opened our first facility in Littleton, Colorado. We offered crane services to our growing customer base.

It wasn’t until 2000 that we purchased our current, state-of-the-art facility in Englewood, Colorado — a location we’re happy to call home. We’ve expanded our offerings to products, specialized parts, hoists and more.

We’ve grown naturally, expanding from a crane service-only company to the variety of crane and hoist services and products we’re proud to offer today. Through the years, we’ve maintained our philosophies of safety and prompt and honest service — the pillars upon which we were built.
